Steps to follow - Heating with Green Power program

Steps to follow

To be eligible for financial assistance, you must register to participate in the Heating with Green Power program before starting any dismantlement work on your fuel-fired system.

Eligibility is confirmed in writing within 5 to 10 business days upon receipt of your application.

Transition énergétique Québec will analyze your application based on the eligibility criteria. As a result, we strongly recommend that you wait for your eligibility to be confirmed before starting any work.

The decision to start any work before receiving your eligibility confirmation means that you recognize and assume the risk or any inconvenience resulting from the refusal of your application under this program.

Steps to follow

Before starting any work, fill out our online form: Application to participate – Heating with Green Power (in French only).

If you have any difficulty with the online form you can use the PDF form (in French only).

Save the form before you fill it. Send your form and supporting documents (fuel and electricity bills) by e-mail or by regular mail to the address indicated at the bottom of the form.

Your application is evaluated by the program’s administrator.

Once your application is received, you will receive an answer by e-mail or telephone within 5 to 10 business days confirming whether you qualify for the Heating with Green Power program or not.

If your application meets the eligibility criteria, you will receive the financial assistance form by mail.

When all work is completed (the fuel-fired system is dismantled, the tank is removed and the new system(s) are installed), mail us the completed financial assistance form along with the required supporting documents (purchase and installation bill of your new system).

If the received documents comply with all requirements, you will receive a cheque for the amount of financial assistance to which you are entitled.

Useful tips

During your renovation, you will have to choose a new heating system and, possibly, a contractor (electrician) in order to comply with the regulations in force governing renovations.

Here are some useful websites:

Each contractor can perform the work corresponding to the categories indicated on his licence (Licences for plumbing, heating and electrical contractors).

For persons currently participating in the Rénoclimat program

As a Rénoclimat participant, you can take advantage of the Heating with Green Power program without having to follow additional steps. The Rénoclimat energy advisor will evaluate your heating system when visiting your home and tell you if you qualify for financial assistance under the Heating with Green Power program for the replacement of your system.

If you already received a Rénoclimat pre-work energy evaluation between October 1st, 2010 and today and would like to replace your fuel-fired heating system, read the eligibility criteria of the Heating with Green Power program then follow the steps for persons participating in the Rénoclimat program for the second time.
