Message concerning Heat Pumps

If you are planning to purchase a heat pump, you must ask the salesperson to show you the proposed model and ensure that it is truly an ENERGY STAR-certified model and that it meets the criteria of the Rénoclimat program. You must ask the salesperson to provide you with the related literature. You are responsible for taking the necessary steps in ensuring that the model you purchase is eligible for financial assistance under the Rénoclimat program.

We cannot certify that one heat pump is better than another or that its installation will systematically help you receive Rénoclimat financial assistance. Many variables must be taken into consideration, such as the insulation of your attic and the EnerGuide rating determined during the energy evaluation of your home.

For more information about heat pumps and the tools to calculate usage costs, please consult the Web site of the Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada.

You can consult the list of ENERGY STAR-certified superior performance models from this site as well as the following document: “Heating and Cooling With a Heat Pump”.

Finally, you can also consult the Practical advice section of our Web site for more information about heat pumps.
