Test Drives at the Montréal International Auto Show

From January 17 to January 26, 2014, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is happy to host the Montréal International Auto Show. The ministère des Ressources naturelles will be there to inform the public about electric vehicles and home charging stations with the participation of CAA-Québec. Once again this year, they will be inviting the public to road test electric vehicles.

Rebates on electric vehicles purchases

Visitors will be able to ask about the purchase rebates available under the Drive Electric program. This program, which is part of one of the measures the government adopted to encourage the electrification of transportation, provides rebates up to $8,000 for the purchase or lease of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle as well as financial assistance for the purchase and home installation of a 240-volt charging station.

Test driving electric vehicles

In collaboration with the Ministry, CAA-Québec will be offering free test drives of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to visitors of the Auto Show.

Take advantage of this opportunity to try out the latest electric models for free. Test drives will be conducted on a 3.1 km circuit combining city and highway driving. Drivers will be paired with someone who is knowledgeable about the technology used in these vehicles and able to answer all their questions.

The models to try out this year are the Smart fortwo electric drive, the Nissan Leaf, the electric Ford Focus, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Ford C-MAX Energi, the Ford Fusion Energi, the Chevrolet Volt as well as the Tesla Model S.

The large sampling of electric vehicles put together by CAA-Québec is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the automobile manufacturers and Fondation GDG (for the loan of the Tesla Model S).

Conditions:

  • Minimum age requirement: 25 years
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Valid automobile insurance (supporting documentation required).

Test driving hours:

  • 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., January 17-25, 2014
  • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2014
