Feasibility Study – Building

Before undertaking work to improve the energy efficiency of a building, Gazifère recommends that you carry out a feasibility study to define the measures that will achieve genuine improvement.  As an incentive, Gazifère offers financial assistance of $2,000 to cover a portion of the cost of having a feasibility study carried out.
Institutional, Commercial, Municipal Gazifère Natural Gas

Heating with Green Power

Financial assistance is available for the replacement of fossil-fueled systems with systems that use electricity or other renewable sources of energy. Eligible systems include central heating systems and water heaters that use oil or any other fossil fuel with the exception of natural gas. The system must be the home’s principal heating source before the beginning of replacement work.

Implementation incentive for energy efficiency measures

This program offers a grant to encourage companies to implement energy efficiency measures to optimize the use of natural gas, reduce energy consumption and thereby cut energy costs (examples of measures that may be eligible for this program include addition of controls on ventilation or heating systems or on a process; heat recovery on a ventilation system, on combustion products from a furnace or boiler, or from drain water; optimization of a combustion system; insulation on the pipes of a hot water or steam network). The measures implemented must have been identified by a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Implementation incentive for energy efficiency measures for major industries

This program offers a grant to encourage “major industry” Gaz Métro customers to implement energy efficiency measures to optimize the use of natural gas, reduce energy consumption and thereby cut energy costs (examples of measures that may be eligible for this program include addition of controls on ventilation or heating systems or on a process; heat recovery on a ventilation system, on combustion products from a furnace or boiler, or from drain water; optimization of a combustion system; insulation on the pipes of a hot water or steam network). The measures implemented must have been identified by a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Industrial Systems Program

The Industrial Systems Program covers a wide range of measures to make industrial facilities, processes and electromechanical systems more energy-efficient or to reduce their specific electricity consumption. The Program’s four components cover a plant’s entire industrial energy efficiency cycle, from planning through improvements to support.
Industrial Hydro-Québec Electricity

Infrared

This program offers a grant to encourage the acquisition and installation of an infrared heating system for heating purposes. Infrared technology operates on the principle of radiant heat, which heats objects and people rather than the ambient air. Infrared heating is ideal for buildings with large volumes of air and which are susceptible to significant air infiltration. The program is intended for both existing and new Gaz Métro customers.

Infrared heaters

The purpose of this program is to save on the consumption of natural gas. It is aimed at commercial and institutional clients who are looking to use the infrared heaters. Infrared heaters make it possible to direct heat to specific locations without heating ambient air. The technology is used mainly in high-ceilinged buildings, like warehouses, garages, arenas and churches.

Low income household supplement (multi-tenant building component)

This program offers supplementary financial assistance to owners of multi-tenant buildings with four or more units, one or more of which are occupied by low-income households, and who are participating in an energy efficiency program. The supplement takes into account the percentage of low-income households renting a unit in the building where the energy efficiency work is being carried out, and is shared between the building owner and the low-income households. The social and community sector, such as housing co-operatives and non-profit organizations that help low-income customers, is also eligible.
Social community, Commercial, Residential Gaz Métro Natural Gas

Low income household supplement (residential component)

This program offers supplementary financial assistance to low-income households who are owners of a single-family home, duplex or triplex and who are participating in an energy efficiency program. The additional assistance doubles the amount offered by the program in which they are participating, excluding programs for the installation of a smart or programmable thermostat, for which the supplementary financial assistance is $220. This program also offers supplementary financial assistance to owners of multi-tenant buildings of three or fewer units, with one or more units occupied by low-income households. The supplement takes into account the percentage of low-income households renting a unit in the building where the energy efficiency work is being carried out, and is shared between the building owner and the low-income households.

Mid-efficiency boiler

This program offers a grant to encourage the acquisition and installation of a mid-efficiency boiler designed to allow for optimal heat exchange between combustion gases and the water or steam to be heated. It includes units with a capacity of at least 300,000 BTU/h, with an efficiency rating between 85% and 89% (excluding condensing units), which are used to heat premises or processes. The program is intended for existing buildings and new constructions, and may be of interest to both current and new customers.
