Changes to the Rénoclimat program starting from May 1, 2024
To continue to support Quebecers engaged in energy-efficient home renovations, offerings under the Rénoclimat program will focus more extensively on retrofits carried out on the building envelope while continuing to rely on the energy efficiency advice of energy advisors. The following changes will come into effect on May 1, 2024 :
- The grant amounts will be increased for home insulation and airtightness retrofits, the replacement of doors and windows and the installation of mechanical systems.
- The installation of geothermal domestic heating supply systems and air-source heat pumps will no longer be eligible for financial assistance under the Rénoclimat program.
A transition phase will be implemented for applicants who joined the program before May 1, 2024; they will have until September 30, 2024 to complete both the installation of their heating system and the post-retrofit energy evaluation in order to get the grant available in the current offerings.
The Gouvernement du Québec will keep supporting homeowners who wish to install a heat-pump or geothermal system through Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert Efficient Homes program.
- After May 1, 2024, a fee of 150$ plus taxes will apply the pre-retrofit energy evaluation. The fee will be reimbursed if you are eligible for financial assistance upon the completion of your project.
The first post-retrofit energy evaluation will be free. A fee of 150$ plus taxes will apply for subsequent energy evaluations.
- The grant multiplier will be increased for insulation retrofits of multi-unit residential buildings
The Rénoclimat program will continue to offer tailor-made energy efficiency consulting services and financial assistance to support homeowners in carrying out retrofits improving their energy efficiency.
